Judaism

Definition of Judaism as it relates to Religions, Monotheism, Moses, Abrahamic Religions

Judaism is a monotheistic religion centered around the covenant between God and the Children of Israel as revealed to the prophets, particularly Moses. It encompasses a rich tradition of religious law, philosophy, ethics, and culture, rooted in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) and further developed through rabbinic literature such as the Talmud and Midrash. Judaism emphasizes the worship of one God, who is eternal, omniscient, and compassionate, and holds a deep reverence for the Land of Israel and its capital, Jerusalem. The religion has three main branches: Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform, each with distinct interpretations and practices, but all sharing the belief in one God and the divine origin of the Torah. As an integral part of the Abrahamic religions, Judaism shares a common lineage with Christianity and Islam, tracing its spiritual roots to the patriarch Abraham.
