Yahweh

Definition of Yahweh as it relates to Religions, Monotheism, Abrahamic Religions

Yahweh: The term refers to the national god of the ancient Israelites, later identified with the God of monotheism in Abrahamic religions. Yahweh is characterized as a god who is jealous, compassionate, and merciful, who makes promises and keeps them, who fights for his people and punishes those who betray them. This deity is central to the beliefs, practices, ethics, and rituals of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, the three major Abrahamic religions that share this concept of monotheistic divinity, while also being distinct from it in various ways.
