Judaism
Judaism, as a religion, is deeply rooted in monotheistic beliefs and practices. It holds the belief in one God, who is eternal, omniscient, and omnipotent, and who is the creator of the universe. The Jewish people consider themselves to be in a unique covenantal relationship with God, as outlined in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh). Judaism's monotheistic philosophy emphasizes that God is transcendent, yet immanent, beyond human comprehension and understanding, but also present and active in the world. The religion's adherents seek to maintain a close relationship with God through observance of divine commandments, study of sacred texts, prayer, and communal life. In the context of Deism, Judaism diverges from the deistic belief that God does not interfere with human affairs after creating the universe. Jewish tradition maintains that God is intimately involved in the lives of individuals and communities, guiding them through both joyous and challenging experiences. When examining the philosophy of religions, Judaism offers a distinct perspective on the nature of God, religious experience, and ethical conduct. It highlights the importance of community, tradition, and ongoing interpretation of sacred texts in understanding religious beliefs and practices. As part of the broader category of Monotheism, Judaism contributes to the discussion of the one-god concept by presenting a faith tradition that is rich in historical narratives, legal codes, ethical teachings, and cultural practices—all of which illustrate how monotheistic belief can be expressed and lived out in daily life.
