Islam

Definition of Islam as it relates to Religions, Monotheism, Abrahamic Religions, Allah, Prophet Muhammad

Islam, as a faith within the Abrahamic religions and monotheistic traditions, centers around the belief in one God, Allah, who is considered to be the same deity worshipped by Christians and Jews. The prophet Muhammad is viewed as the final messenger of Allah, who received revelations from him that form the basis of the Islamic holy text, the Quran. Islam places a strong emphasis on community, charity, and submission to God's will, with adherents seeking to live in accordance with the Five Pillars of Islam: faith, prayer, giving to the poor, fasting during Ramadan, and making a pilgrimage to Mecca if possible. The religion has spread throughout the world, and its followers come from a wide range of ethnicities and cultures.
