Mecca

Definition of Mecca as it relates to Religions, Monotheism, Muhammad

Mecca is a city located in the western part of Saudi Arabia, renowned as the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the holiest city in Islam. It is where Muslims from around the world come to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, and visit the Kaaba, a cube-shaped building that is considered the holiest site in the religion. Mecca has great significance for Muslims as it is believed to be the place where Muhammad received his first revelation from Allah through the archangel Gabriel, marking the beginning of the Islamic faith. Therefore, Mecca serves as a powerful symbol of monotheism and the unity of all believers under one God.
