Definition of Instructional Design as it relates to Education, Science Education, Online Learning

Instructional Design encompasses the planning and creation of educational experiences, interventions, and materials utilizing systematic methodologies in order to facilitate learning and achievement in various contexts, such as Science Education and Online Learning environments. It involves analyzing learning needs and objectives, determining appropriate instructional strategies, developing content and assessments, and evaluating the effectiveness of the design. The process often includes collaboration among educators, subject matter experts, designers, and technologists to create engaging, interactive, and accessible educational resources that promote active learning and cater to diverse learners' needs. Instructional Design draws upon theories and principles from multiple disciplines including education, cognitive psychology, computer science, and communication studies.
