Instructional Design: The systematic and reflective process of translating principles of learning and instruction into plans for instructional materials, activities, information resources, and evaluation. It involves collaboration among subject matter experts, educators, technologists, and evaluators to create meaningful and effective learning experiences that align with educational goals and learner needs, particularly in the contexts of Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Research, and Instructional Design. The instructional designer's role is to ensure that the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of instruction are informed by research-based theories of learning, instructional strategies, and assessment methods, with a focus on improving learner outcomes and promoting lifelong learning.
