Sikhism
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the 15th century in the Punjab region of South Asia. It emphasizes the belief in one formless, infinite, and eternal God who is present in everything and everywhere. The core teachings of Sikhism include the belief in equality of all people, living a truthful and honest life, and remembering and meditating on God’s name. Sikh practices include reciting prayers from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism, participating in community services and events, and practicing selfless service to others. Sikhism is distinct from other religions as it does not have a concept of priesthood or religious hierarchy, and its followers, known as Sikhs, are encouraged to take an active role in their spiritual development and the betterment of society. The teachings of Sikhism promote unity, compassion, and social justice, making it a significant contributor to the monotheistic religions under the umbrella of world religions.
