Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded in the Punjab region of India during the late 15th century. It is based on the teachings of ten Sikh Gurus, embodied in the holy scripture, Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs believe in a formless God, who is infinite and eternal, and they strive for a balance between spiritual development and temporal obligations. The faith emphasizes equality, service to others, and a disciplined way of life. It rejects the caste system and promotes social justice. In its hierarchy of categories, Sikhism falls under Monotheism in World Religions, reflecting its belief in a single deity, as well as its place among other global faith systems.
