Biochemistry

Definition of Biochemistry as it relates to Science, Physical Science, Environmental Science

Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes and substances that occur within living organisms. As part of Environmental Science, biochemistry focuses on understanding how these chemical processes affect the environment, including the impact of pollutants on biological systems and the role of enzymes in environmental reactions. It also examines the chemical basis of life, such as the structure and function of proteins, DNA, and lipids, and how they interact to maintain living organisms. Biochemistry is a crucial link between the physical sciences and environmental science, providing an understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying environmental phenomena. By studying biochemistry within the context of Environmental Science, one can gain insights into the complex interactions between living organisms and their environment, and develop solutions to pressing environmental problems.
