Genetic Engineering
Genetic Engineering, also known as genetic modification, is a scientific discipline where the DNA or genetic material of an organism is manipulated to bring about a change in its characteristics. It involves the use of recombinant DNA technology to alter, delete, move or copy genes from one organism to another. This field combines knowledge and techniques from genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and biotechnology to modify an organism's genetic makeup in order to achieve desired traits. Genetic engineering has numerous applications in various fields such as agriculture, medicine, research, and industry. It has the potential to solve some of the world's most pressing problems like hunger, diseases, and environmental degradation, but it also raises ethical concerns regarding its impact on human health, biodiversity, and food security.
