Population Genetics
Population Genetics is a branch of genetics that studies genetic variation within and between populations. It applies principles of population biology, evolution, and mathematics to understand how gene frequencies change over time and in response to environmental factors. This field seeks to explain patterns of genetic diversity and differentiation among individuals, populations, and species, ultimately shedding light on processes such as natural selection, mutation, genetic drift, migration, and gene flow. By examining the distribution and frequency of alleles within populations, population genetics can provide insights into evolutionary history, ecology, and conservation.
