Definition of Immunology as it relates to Science, Genetics

Immunology is the scientific study of the immune system and its functions, which includes defense against infectious organisms, removal of dead cells and foreign substances, and the maintenance of internal stability. It encompasses the genetic factors that influence immunity, as well as the complex interactions between genetics and environmental factors in shaping immune responses. Immunology draws on principles from a variety of scientific disciplines, including biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and epidemiology, to understand the mechanisms underlying immune function and dysfunction. It has wide-ranging applications in medicine, public health, agriculture, and biotechnology.
