Immunology is the study of the immune system, which defends organisms against infectious diseases and foreign materials. This field encompasses the investigation of immune responses at molecular, cellular, and systemic levels within Zoology, as well as the interactions between the immune system and other biological systems. Research in Immunology contributes significantly to our understanding of Life Science and Science more broadly, by shedding light on the fundamental principles governing host defense mechanisms, autoimmunity, hypersensitivity, and immunodeficiency.
