Definition of Special Education as it relates to Education, Physical Education, Sports Medicine

Special Education refers to a distinct field within education that focuses on catering to the unique needs of students with disabilities, developmental delays, and other exceptionalities. It encompasses a variety of instructional strategies, methodologies, and accommodations designed to help these learners acquire knowledge, skills, and values in a supportive environment. Special Education professionals collaborate closely with families, teachers, medical personnel, and community resources to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) that address each student's specific needs, strengths, and goals.
