Definition of Special Education as it relates to Education, Kindergarten Education, Academic Advising

Special Education refers to an educational approach tailored to meet the unique learning needs and preferences of students with disabilities, such as physical, cognitive, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, communication, sensory, visual or auditory impairments. This approach aims to provide equal opportunities for these learners by adjusting instructional methods and materials to suit their individual abilities and goals. Special Education often involves collaboration between general education teachers, special educators, related service providers, parents, and students themselves to create a supportive learning environment that ensures academic success and personal growth. It encompasses Kindergarten Education as well as Academic Advising, providing specialized instruction, accommodations, modifications, and interventions from early childhood through adolescence and beyond, in various educational settings, including regular classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classrooms, or separate schools.
