Definition of Special Education as it relates to Education, Business Education, Financial Education

Special Education refers to a specialized form of education designed specifically for students with unique learning needs, including physical, mental, cognitive, emotional, and developmental disabilities. This field focuses on creating individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals, and employs various instructional strategies, assistive technologies, and support services to help students overcome their challenges and achieve academic success. Special Education professionals must possess a deep understanding of disability laws, assessment tools, and evidence-based practices, as well as strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. They work closely with general education teachers, families, therapists, and other stakeholders to create inclusive learning environments that promote equity, accessibility, and diversity. Ultimately, Special Education aims to empower students with disabilities to become independent, confident learners who can contribute meaningfully to their communities and society at large.
