Definition of Christianity as it relates to Religions, Monotheism, Bible, New Testament

Christianity, as found within the New Testament of the Bible, represents a monotheistic religion centered around the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an outgrowth of Judaism, sharing many of its beliefs and practices, but with the significant distinction of recognizing Jesus as the promised Messiah and the Son of God. The New Testament, which consists of 27 books, contains the core teachings of Christianity, including the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline and General Epistles, and the Book of Revelation. Christianity's fundamental beliefs include the Holy Trinity, the divinity of Jesus, the resurrection of the dead, and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. As a continuation of the monotheistic tradition, Christianity emphasizes the importance of love, compassion, and service to others as expressions of one's devotion to God.
