Torah
The Torah, also known as the Pentateuch in Christianity, is the first five books of the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament. It is considered the foundational text of Judaism and contains the laws, stories, and teachings that form the basis of Jewish religious practice and belief. Written in Hebrew, the Torah is revered as the word of God and is studied and interpreted by rabbis and scholars to this day. It includes narratives about the creation of the world, the history of the Israelites, and the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. The Torah forms the foundation for the rest of the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament, providing context and background for the prophetic books and the writings of the Wisdom Literature.
