Art History
Sound Art refers to an artistic practice where sound serves as the primary medium, often incorporating elements of performance and multimedia art. It involves the creation, manipulation, and interpretation of sounds to evoke emotional or intellectual responses in the audience. Sound artists explore a wide range of sonic possibilities, from natural acoustic phenomena to electronic and digital sound synthesis. The genre encompasses installations, live performances, recordings, and interactive works that challenge traditional notions of music and art. At its core, Sound Art is about expanding the boundaries of auditory experience and engaging with the world through the medium of sound.
