Art History

Definition of Art History as it relates to Art, Minimalist Art, Graphic Design

Fauvism is an early 20th century art movement characterized by the use of intense color, simplified forms, and expressive brushwork. Pioneered by artists such as Henri Matisse and André Derain, Fauvism sought to break away from traditional Western painting techniques and instead prioritize subjective emotional responses to the world. This approach often resulted in bold, vibrant works that emphasized the artist's personal interpretation over objective reality. Despite its short-lived existence, Fauvism had a significant impact on the development of modern art, influencing movements such as Expressionism and Abstract Art.
