Definition of Minimalist Art as it relates to Art
Minimalist Art: A form of visual art characterized by simplicity in form and content, where only what is essential features in the artwork. It often involves a restricted color palette, geometric shapes, and an emphasis on lines and planes. The artist's intention is to focus the viewer's attention on the materials and processes used in creating the work, rather than distracting with ornate details or extraneous elements. Minimalist Art emerged in the 1960s as a reaction against abstract expressionism and aims to convey a sense of calm and order.
