Definition of Art History as it relates to Art, Baroque Art, Allegory

"Painting Techniques" encompasses a range of artistic methods and processes used in creating two-dimensional artworks, primarily through the application of paint on a support such as canvas, wood panel, or paper. This broad category can be applied to various styles and genres, including still life art, landscapes, portraiture, and abstract compositions found in art museums. The techniques involved may consist of underpainting, glazing, scumbling, impasto, chiaroscuro, and color theory principles, among others. Mastery of these methods allows artists to effectively communicate their ideas, emotions, and perceptions of the world around them through the manipulation of paint, brushes, and other tools.
