Definition of Paleontology as it relates to Animals, Extinct Animals, Woolly Mammoth
Paleontology is the scientific study of life that existed prior to, and sometimes including, the start of the Holocene Epoch roughly 11,700 years ago. It encompasses the examination of plant and animal fossils, which include the remains of extinct animals such as the Woolly Mammoth, to understand their evolutionary history, ecosystems, and interactions with the environment. By analyzing these ancient organisms, paleontologists aim to gain insights into the Earth's geological past and the development of life over billions of years.
