Oceanography
Oceanography is an earth science dedicated to studying the world's oceans, their characteristics, and phenomena related to them. It encompasses various fields such as physical oceanography, chemical oceanography, biological oceanography, and geological oceanography. Physical oceanographers examine the physical properties of seawater, waves, tides, and currents, while chemical oceanographers study the composition of seawater, including its salinity, temperature, nutrients, and pollutants. Biological oceanographers investigate marine life and ecosystems, while geological oceanographers focus on the seafloor's structure, sedimentation, and geologic history. Overall, oceanography seeks to understand the complex interactions between the oceans and the rest of the Earth system, including the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and cryosphere.
