Definition of Oceanography as it relates to Science, Environmental Science, Soil Science

Oceanography is the scientific study of the ocean, its properties, phenomena, and organisms. It examines waves, tides, currents, sediments, the geological and chemical composition of water, and marine life. While not directly studying soil, oceanography is a critical component in understanding the Earth's climate system as it plays a significant role in global heat distribution, carbon cycling, and nutrient transport, thus intertwining with Soil Science within the broader context of Environmental Science and Science at large.
