Oceanography
Oceanography is the scientific study of the Earth's oceans, their origins, chemistry, geology, and living organisms. As a branch of Earth Science, oceanography examines the physical and biological properties of ocean water, as well as its role in supporting life on our planet. By exploring the vast depths and expanses of the world's oceans, oceanographers contribute to our understanding of global climate patterns, marine biodiversity, and the many natural resources found beneath the waves. As part of the Life Science hierarchy, oceanography intersects with ecology by examining the relationships between marine organisms and their environments, providing insights into the delicate balance that sustains life in Earth's oceans.
