Oceanography
Oceanography is a branch of Earth Science concerned with the study and understanding of oceans, their physical properties, chemical composition, geological processes, and biological communities. It encompasses various sub-disciplines such as marine geology, physical oceanography, chemical oceanography, and biological oceanography, which investigate the interactions between the ocean and its surrounding atmosphere, seafloor, and biosphere. Oceanographers seek to answer fundamental questions about Earth's oceans, including their formation, evolution, and role in global climate systems, as well as their impact on marine life and human societies. Through observation, experimentation, data analysis, and modeling, oceanography advances our knowledge of the world's oceans and their significance to the planet, informing policies and practices related to resource management, conservation, and sustainability.
