Natural Selection
Natural Selection: A process within the larger framework of Evolution, in which individuals with traits that are advantageous for their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce, passing on these traits to their offspring. In the context of Life Science, it is a key mechanism of evolutionary change, occurring over generations as genetic variations become more or less common. From a Geological perspective, Natural Selection helps explain how species have adapted and changed over time in response to changes in their physical environment, leading to the diversity of life observed today. As part of the broader field of Science, it is supported by extensive empirical evidence from various disciplines such as genetics, paleontology, and ecology.
