Definition of Modern Art as it relates to Art, Expressionist Art, Fauvism

Art Movement: Fauvism Fauvism, an early 20th century art movement, was characterized by the use of intense color, bold brushwork, and simplified forms to express emotion and convey meaning. The movement emerged in France around 1904-1905, led by Henri Matisse and André Derain, and lasted until approximately 1908. Fauvist works often featured distorted perspectives, vibrant hues, and a focus on the emotional impact of color rather than naturalistic representation. The movement was influential in the development of modern art, particularly in its emphasis on subjective expression over objective representation.
