Definition of Modern Art as it relates to Art, Cubism, Visual Arts

Modern Art Movements, specifically under the umbrella of Cubism, refer to the avant-garde art movement that began in the early 20th century and was characterized by its departure from traditional perspective and representation. Pioneered by artists such as Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, Cubism sought to deconstruct objects into geometric shapes and reassemble them on a two-dimensional plane, challenging conventional notions of form and space. Synthetic Cubism, a later development within the movement, further emphasized the use of collage and other materials to create a more abstract and textured representation of reality. Overall, Modern Art Movements under Cubism represent a radical shift in artistic expression, breaking away from traditional forms and embracing new modes of visual language.
