Definition of Visual Arts as it relates to Art, Expressionist Art, De Stijl

Cubism is an avant-garde art movement that emerged in the early 20th century, characterized by its fragmented and abstracted depictions of subjects. The movement was pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who sought to break down objects into geometric shapes and planes, depicting them from multiple perspectives simultaneously. This approach allowed artists to explore the relationship between form and space, challenging traditional notions of representation and perspective. Cubism had a significant impact on the development of modern art, inspiring movements such as Futurism, Constructivism, and De Stijl. The movement also influenced the fields of literature, music, and fashion, reflecting a broader cultural shift towards abstraction and experimentation. At its core, Cubism represents a radical rethinking of the way we perceive and represent reality, challenging viewers to see the world in new and innovative ways.
