The African Elephant is a species of gray elephant, which belongs to the Proboscideans family and is part of the animal kingdom. The African Elephant has two subspecies: the savannah elephant and the forest elephant. Compared to the Asian elephant, it has a larger body size and straighter spine. Its social structure is matriarchal, with females living in groups and males being more solitary. Reproduction is slow, with females giving birth to one calf every 4-5 years. African Elephants play an essential role in maintaining the biodiversity of their habitats by creating clearings for new plant growth and dispersing seeds through their dung.
