Definition of Mammals as it relates to Animals

Mammals are warm-blooded vertebrates belonging to the class Mammalia, characterized by the presence of mammary glands for nursing their young, hair or fur covering their bodies, and three middle ear bones. They inhabit a wide range of environments, from forests and grasslands to oceans and deserts. Mammals vary greatly in size and form, with species ranging from tiny shrews to large elephants and whales. Some mammals are solitary, while others live in groups or colonies. They exhibit diverse behaviors, such as hunting, foraging, and social grooming. Mammals play important roles in ecosystems as predators, prey, and pollinators.
