Mammals

Definition of Mammals as it relates to Animals, Farm Animals, Rats

Mammals are a class of warm-blooded vertebrate animals characterized by the presence of mammary glands, which produce milk to feed their young. This group includes a diverse range of species, from small, insectivorous shrews to large, grazing elephants. Many mammals are also covered in hair or fur, and have three middle ear bones that allow them to hear a wide range of frequencies. Additionally, most mammals give live birth, although a few species, such as monotremes, lay eggs. Mammals can be found on every continent except Antarctica, and they occupy a wide variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, deserts, and aquatic environments. Some mammals are domesticated and kept as farm animals, while others are hunted for their meat, fur, or other products. However, many species of mammals are currently facing threats to their survival due to habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and other human activities.
