Mammals

Definition of Mammals as it relates to Animals, Terrestrial Animals, Birds

Mammals are warm-blooded vertebrates distinguished by the presence of mammary glands, which produce milk to feed their young. They represent a diverse group of animals, including humans and a wide variety of other species. As a subgroup within Terrestrial Animals, mammals share the characteristic of living on land, as opposed to aquatic or aerial environments. Within the category of Birds, mammals are unique in that they do not have feathers or beaks, and their young are born live rather than hatching from eggs. This makes mammals a distinct and fascinating part of the animal kingdom, and an important subcategory within the broader classifications of Animals and Terrestrial Animals.
