Definition of Mammals as it relates to Animals, Birds, Animal Types

Mammals are warm-blooded animals characterized by the presence of mammary glands which produce milk to feed their young. They belong to the class Mammalia and are found in diverse habitats all over the world. Mammals include a wide variety of species such as primates, rodents, marsupials, ungulates, carnivores, and cetaceans. They have hair or fur covering their bodies and most have three middle ear bones that help them hear. Additionally, mammals are unique in that they have a four-chambered heart and a diaphragm for breathing. Many mammal species exhibit complex social behaviors and some even display advanced cognitive abilities. Overall, mammals are a diverse and fascinating group of animals with many intriguing characteristics and adaptations.
