Microbiology

Definition of Microbiology as it relates to Science, Zoology, Parasitology

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. It encompasses their structure, function, ecology, evolution, interaction with each other and their hosts, as well as their use in biotechnology and other practical applications. In this hierarchy, Microbiology is a key component of Parasitology, contributing to the understanding of host-parasite interactions at the molecular level and informing strategies for prevention and control. It also complements Zoology by shedding light on the microbial world that interacts with macroscopic organisms and their ecosystems, and aligns with Science in its broader pursuit of knowledge about the natural world.
