Surrealism
Surrealism is an artistic and intellectual movement that emerged in Europe in the early 20th century, as a response to the cultural shifts brought about by the Enlightenment and the subsequent industrialization. It sought to challenge conventional perceptions of reality by exploring the irrational, dreamlike, and subconscious aspects of the human experience. Surrealism drew from various cultural influences, including European culture, and often incorporated elements from different artistic movements such as Dada and Cubism. At its core, surrealism is an exploration of the unexpected, the strange, and the fantastical, using techniques such as automatism, collage, and juxtaposition to create a sense of disorientation and wonder.
