Neuroscience

Definition of Neuroscience as it relates to Science

Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field of study devoted to understanding the structure, function, and development of the nervous system, including the brain. It combines approaches from biology, psychology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and engineering to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying perception, behavior, cognition, memory, learning, language, and consciousness. Neuroscientists use a variety of techniques, ranging from molecular and cellular studies to systems-level analysis and computational modeling, to explore how neurons communicate with one another and how neural circuits process information. The field has numerous practical applications in medicine, education, and technology, as well as implications for our understanding of the human condition and society.
