Definition of Abstract Art as it relates to Art, Art History, Art Study

Renaissance Art refers to the visual arts produced during the Renaissance period, encompassing painting, sculpture and architecture. It is characterized by a revival of interest in classical learning and values, which led artists to study the works of ancient Greece and Rome, and to develop new techniques such as linear perspective, chiaroscuro and anatomical accuracy. The movement began in Italy in the late 14th century, spreading throughout Europe over the next two centuries and influencing the course of Western art. Notable Renaissance artists include Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian.
