Theism
Theism, as it relates to the hierarchy of Religions/Atheism/Agnosticism, refers to the belief in a higher power or deity. It is the idea that there exists a conscious, intelligent being responsible for the creation and governance of the universe. Those who identify as theists may practice organized religions, or they may have personal beliefs and spiritual practices that are not tied to any specific religion. Theism contrasts with atheism, which denies the existence of a higher power, and agnosticism, which holds a neutral position on the matter, acknowledging uncertainty or lack of evidence. In this hierarchy, theism can be seen as a more specific perspective within the broader category of religions, while also intersecting with the categories of atheism and agnosticism in that it represents an alternative viewpoint to both.
