Chemistry

Definition of Chemistry as it relates to Science, Mathematics, Biology

Chemistry, as part of Biology within the Science/Mathematics hierarchy, focuses on the study of matter, its properties, how and why substances combine or separate to form other substances, and how substances interact with energy. It is concerned with the composition, structure, properties, and reactions of elements and compounds, both inorganic and organic. Chemistry includes various branches such as analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and theoretical chemistry. These fields are integral to understanding biological systems and their functions, making chemistry an essential component of Biology. It shares strong connections with Mathematics, especially through quantitative analysis and modeling.
