Learning Disabilities
"Learning Disabilities" refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by significant difficulties in the acquisition and execution of specific academic skills, which are otherwise not due to low intelligence, poor education, or socio-cultural opportunity. These disabilities manifest in a variety of ways, such as dyslexia (reading disorder), dyscalculia (mathematics disorder), dysgraphia (writing disorder), auditory processing disorder, and language processing disorder. Individuals with learning disabilities may struggle with reading comprehension, written expression, math calculations, or listening skills, despite having adequate intelligence and motivation. The category also encompasses the interdisciplinary field of study that investigates the causes, identification, assessment, and intervention for individuals with learning disabilities. This includes special education methods, cultural studies education, and educational policies and practices aimed at supporting learners with diverse needs.
