Definition of Learning Disabilities as it relates to Education, Early Childhood Education, Preschool

Learning Disabilities: A term used to describe a wide range of disorders in which an individual has difficulty acquiring, processing, and using information due to apparent impairment in one or more areas related to basic psychological processes. These disorders can manifest as difficulties in reading (dyslexia), writing (dysgraphia), mathematics (dyscalculia), or other cognitive skills. The category is relevant to education because learning disabilities often require specialized instruction and support, particularly during early childhood education and preschool years, to address the unique challenges these students face in the classroom and help them reach their full potential as learners.
