Learning Disabilities

Definition of Learning Disabilities as it relates to Education, Religious Education, University Education

Learning Disabilities: A broad term referring to neurological disorders that hinder an individual's ability to learn, process, and retain information effectively. These disabilities can manifest in various ways, such as dyslexia (difficulty with reading), dyscalculia (difficulty with math), dysgraphia (difficulty with writing), or auditory processing disorder (difficulty understanding spoken language). Individuals with learning disabilities often require specialized educational approaches and resources to achieve their full academic potential. This includes accommodations in traditional education, religious education, and university education settings. These accommodations may include additional time for tests, assistive technology, preferential seating, or modified homework assignments. Despite the challenges they present, learning disabilities do not reflect a person's intelligence or potential; rather, they require targeted strategies to help those affected overcome obstacles in the learning process.
