Definition of Learning Disabilities as it relates to Education, Library Science Education, Language Education

Learning Disabilities: A condition characterized by difficulties in acquiring and processing information, resulting in significant impairments in academic performance despite average to above-average intelligence. These disabilities can manifest in various areas such as reading (dyslexia), writing (dysgraphia), mathematics (dyscalculia), or language comprehension, among others. Individuals with learning disabilities often require specialized educational support and accommodations, including individualized instruction, multi-sensory approaches, and assistive technology. The field of Learning Disabilities encompasses research, assessment, intervention, and policy aimed at improving academic outcomes for individuals with these conditions. It is closely related to the fields of Education, Library Science Education, and Language Education, as it requires knowledge and skills in these areas to effectively support individuals with learning disabilities.
