Supply chain management (SCM) is the coordination and management of activities involved in the production and delivery of a product or service, from raw materials sourcing to end customer. It encompasses business processes and financial considerations necessary to effectively manage the flow of goods, information, and finances within an organization and with its external partners. SCM aims to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, improve responsiveness to customer needs, and increase overall supply chain visibility and control. Effective SCM requires a deep understanding of business strategy, financial management, logistics, procurement, production planning, inventory management, transportation, and customer service, among other areas.
