Virology
Definition of Virology as it relates to Science, Zoology, Immunobiology
Virology is the study of viruses, their classification, and their effects on living organisms. As part of immunobiology, it investigates how these tiny infectious agents interact with the immune system, causing diseases in animals, including humans, and plants. Viral replication strategies, pathogenesis, evolution, ecology, and control also fall under its purview. By understanding viruses at a molecular and cellular level, researchers can develop effective countermeasures against them, ultimately protecting both human and animal health as well as the environment.
