Virology
Virology is the scientific study of viruses, their classification, and life cycle, as well as their interactions with hosts and the diseases they cause. It fits within Bacteriology by exploring bacterial viruses, known as bacteriophages, which are viruses that infect bacteria, thus making it a crucial component in understanding both virology and bacteriology. Moreover, given the genetic material of viruses, this field also intersects with Genetics, particularly when examining how viral genes integrate into host genomes during infection or replication. As such, Virology represents an essential facet of Science that contributes to our understanding of microbiology and genetics.
